How To Remove Crayon From Wall?

Children are born artists, and crayons are their favorite instrument to unleash their imagination. However, there will come a time when those crayons will leave their mark on your walls. Removing the illustrations of your little Picasso may take a little elbow grease due to the crayon’s waxy consistency.

If you have small children, you don’t need to panic; you just have to learn how to remove crayon from walls.

Read on as we have quick remedies for getting crayon stains from a wall, so you don’t have to waste any more time.

8 Ways To Get Crayon Marks Off Of Painted Walls

Removing Crayon By Using A Magic Eraser

Clean magic erasers are abrasive sponges intended to remove the crayon from the wall. They are also great for dissolving permanent marker stains from surfaces.

Wet the Magic Eraser with hot water and dish soap. Then squeeze out excess water. With your damp Eraser, start rubbing the unwanted markings on the wall and watch them vanish.

Note that a magic eraser may discolor your walls if used erroneously or over scrubbing. Also, never use this on a shiny surface, as it can damage the finish.

Saving Your Wall With WD-40

WD-40 is an effective way to remove crayon marks from painted walls. Simply spray some of the product onto a paper towel and wipe over the affected area. The crayon typically peels right away. Then, wipe the area with soapy water to clear the WD-40 oily residue.

Lay down some cleaning rags to protect your carpet because it can be a total hassle to remove from the fabric.

Scrubbing with Baking Soda

Baking soda is among the common household items that can remove crayon stains due to its added grit. Simply mix a bit of baking soda with water, creating a thick paste. Dip a damp rag, then gently scrub it in the crayon marks for about 10 minutes, or until you see the crayon begin to disappear.

Once the offending crayon is gone, wipe away the residual baking soda with a clean, damp cloth or rinsed and wrung-out sponge.

Get Crayon Off Walls Using Blow Dryer

If your kids are not using washable crayons, you’re straining to clean primarily crayon wax stains. A blow dryer is the ultimate tool to soften it and get crayons off walls.

Then, grab a soft scrub brush to scrape as much of the crayons. Clean up the surface with a paper towel or a clean rag. After eliminating the stain, use a dry microfiber cloth to remove crayon residue.

Rub-Off With A Pencil Eraser

This cleaning approach is ideal for minor marks and only needs a fresh, regular eraser and elbow grease. Rub lightly at any crayon marks with a pencil eraser, ensuring that you don’t use extensive motions to avoid spreading the mark out on the wall and prevent the paint from peeling.

This trick works best for non-greasy Conte crayons. For grease-based ones, better use the putty eraser.

Getting Crayon Off Wall With Vinegar

Vinegar is a versatile cleaning tool.

Dip an old toothbrush in the distilled white vinegar. Then, lightly scrub the crayon away. Next, take a clean, damp rag and wipe the walls clean and dry everything off.

If the smell of vinegar bothers you, you can use dawn dish soap and water to cleanse the wall once the crayon dissipates. However, do a last water-only scrub to remove any residual soap.

Don’t forget to first test the vinegar on a small area before applying it to the whole stain.

Using A Steel wool

Steel wools are often used to scrub your sink. But it is the best abrasive cleaning tool when you need to get crayon marks off your walls.

Gently skim the surface with a steel wool pad, scraping it in one direction rather than scrubbing in a circular motion. It’ll wipe the crayon right off the wall.

However, it is not a suitable choice to use on some wallpaper because the bristly surface of steel wool can damage the wallpaper. This method is generally safe on painted drywall without damaging the paint.

Cleaning Crayon Stains With Toothpaste

The last recommended cleaning agent to remove crayon marks from walls is a white, non-gel toothpaste and a toothbrush. Paste has tiny abrasives, which help remove stains from the surface you’re cleaning.

In a circular motion, start scrubbing the stain with warm water and toothpaste for 10 minutes or until the stain is gone. And clean up the area with a damp cloth to rid the residual paste.
